  22. -----------
  23. Kith and Kin is a software package for documenting and storing family trees
  24. which will appeal to genealogists, family historians and anyone interested
  25. in researching and documenting family history. It features an easy to use
  26. graphical interface and powerful multi-level editing tools which makes it
  27. ideal for both large and small trees. The program supports date and place
  28. of births, marriages and deaths as well as multiple marriages and aliases
  29. for each person. Pictures, diagrams, sounds, etc may be embedded in or
  30. linked to a person or family. A printed book can be produced with family
  31. group details (which may incorporate pictures and diagrams) and a complete,
  32. cross-referenced index to names and families. The user has control over the
  33. formatting and extent of all printed reports which also include tree layout,
  34. descendant tree, ancestral tree and person details. Compatibility with
  35. "Personal Ancestral File" GEDCOM files means the user can export and import
  36. data to and from other genealogy programs.

  61. The program is simple to use and anyone familiar with Windows will quickly
  62. learn to control the following features.

  64.  > Graphical representation of family units and relationships provides fast
  65.    access to editing.
  66.  > Multi-level editing means the user can traverse the tree while editing
  67.    and adding people and families.
  68.  > Support for date and place of births, deaths and marriages.
  69.  > Multiple aliases are allowed for each person.
  70.  > Notes for each person and family may be entered, edited and are included
  71.    in printed reports. Full clipboard support allows exchange of text with
  72.    other applications.
  73.  > Pictures, diagrams, sounds, videos and any object created by other
  74.    applications which support OLE may be associated with a person or family.
  75.  > Search for text in any field, including notes, then edit person or
  76.    family details direct from the search results.

  92. Version 2.03 :

  94. Kith and Kin was gradually eating up system resources, leading to
  95. insufficient memory after long sessions. This has been fixed.
  96.  
  97. The maximum number of generations for Descendant and Ancestral Tree prints
  98. has been increased to 80.
  99.  
  100. An overlap occurred in Descendant and Ancestral Tree prints where a
  101. person had an empty record. This has been fixed.
  102.  
  103. Print setup no longer changes the system default. Any changes are local
  104. to the current K&K session.
  105.  
  106. It is no longer possible to make the a single person appear more than once
  107. as a child of a single family. Similarly for marriages in Person Data.

  109. You can now specify a Person or Family code in the Range|From field of a
  110. Person or Family Details print which does not exist. Kith and Kin will
  111. skip to the next valid code.

  126. ------------
  127. This product is SHAREWARE. The version on this release disk is a fully
  128. functional evaluation copy which the user may install and use free of charge
  129. for 30 days. After that time, if the user wishes to continue use, a fixed
  130. registration fee of 24 Pounds Sterling is payable to us.
  131. Registration reminder screens are used in the program, increasing in
  132. severity when 30 days have passed.
  133. Upon registration the user becomes entitled to the registered version of the
  134. software, telephone support and notification of new releases. Registered
  135. users may upgrade to future versions at a discount.
  136. The registered version has been optimised by removing the registration
  137. reminder coding.
  138. A data file conversion program which will convert tree (.TRE) and options 
  139. (.OPT) files created by earlier versions of Kith and Kin so that they can be
  140. used with the latest release is provided with all registered versions of the
  141. software.
